Colors from an Image

Spectrum can automatically generate color schemes from images. It’s a great starting point for new palettes.

To create a new scheme from an image, click on the Colors From An Image button in the top right corner (the camera icon).

Once you select an image, Spectrum will pop up a new window displaying the selected image. Here, you can perform the following actions:

  1. Crop the image: Drag the markers at the corners of the image to crop it. Only the region within the cropping rectangle is used for generating the color scheme.
  2. Change the number of swatches: Drag the slider below the image to increase or decrease the number of shades displayed.

Click on Done to add the color scheme to your library.
